Coating Raw Materials

Since 1955, Bayer MaterialScience has introduced a variety of monomeric and polymeric isocyanates, polyesters, polyethers and acrylics for use in the formulation of polyurethane coatings. Resins, binders and coreactants from Bayer are used to formulate coatings used in a wide range of industries, from architectural and automotive coatings to plastic and wood coatings.

More importantly, Bayer has been at the forefront of R&D to develop new polyurethane coating chemistries for today's health and environmental needs. Industry is seeking coatings with lower volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and reduced environmental impact. Bayer has met this challenge.

Bayer's EPA award-winning waterborne coating systems meet the quality of proven, solventborne coatings while also offering excellent environmental compatibility. Polyurethane dispersion (PUD) chemistry from Bayer is widening the capabilities of waterborne polyurethane coatings and offering additional environmental benefits by eliminating certain chemicals. Radiation-cure coatings that use ultraviolet (UV) light or electron beam (EB) energy to quickly cure the coating offer still more alternatives to reduce the environmental impact of coatings in a number of applications.
