Desmocoll polyurethanes for solventborne adhesives

DESMOCOLL polyurethanes can be used to produce traditional solvent-based adhesives that are suitable for the bonding of rubber, leather, textiles, metal, paper, wood, and plastics, including highly plasticized polyvinyl chloride.

DESMOCOLL polyurethanes are supplied as lightly talced pellets that can be dissolved in acetone, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and a wide range of solvent blends for use.

The DESMOCOLL product range consists of a variety of products that exhibit a range of crystallinity. The crystallinity of the individual product affects the bond development speed as well as the open tack time and the final bond strength. Although most DESMOCOLL based adhesives are heat-activated, formulations are available for systems that need no activation.

DESMOCOLL polyurethanes have a low hydroxyl content which allows them to be crosslinked with polyisocyanates like the DESMODUR R series to improve the bond strength, heat resistance and plasticiser resistance of the applied adhesive formulation.
