Glass Coatings

Coatings for glass have become more critical for both their decorative and protective properties. Bayer supplies a range of raw materials to formulate various types of polyurethane systems for glass coating. The most commonly used type of glass coating are one-component water based systems. Polyurethane systems offer decorative finishing along with a functional coating which offers improved scratch resistance, shatter resistance, chemical resistance and dishwasher compatibility. Recommended products include those sold under the Bayhydur and Bayhydrol tradename.

Glass Fiber Sizings

High performance aqueous polyurethane dispersions have been developed specifically for the manufacturing of glass fiber sizes. They have high sheer resistance, color stability and are compatible with a variety of commercial silanes used as bonding agents. These sizings strengthen the bond between thermoplastic materials and glass fibers which are used to reinforce them. Glass fiber sizings are suitable for reinforcing thermoplastics. Recommended products include those sold under the Baybond tradename. Baybond products are supplied at either low or high solids levels.
